2020 Got Strings Musician Highlight

While it feels like almost everything in life is at a stand still right now, life here with Got Strings is certainly not! Although some of our wedding gigs have been postponed due to the pandemic, we’ve been hard at work building the perfect 2020 Got Strings roster!

(And I think we nailed it, in my opinion!)

Here at Got Strings, every musician is auditioned and hand-selected through our audition process. Luckily for us, our audition process is entirely virtual and totally suitable for this current #quarantinelife. In fact, we have an entire blog post dedicated to the entire Got Strings audition process that you can read here.

We pride ourselves in selecting a group of professional and talented musicians that will ensure your special day runs smoothly. So, get to know some of the 2020 Got Strings faces, because there’s a very good chance that one of them may be making an appearance on your wedding day!

Without further ado, allow us to introduce you to some of our 2020 Got Strings Musicians:

Meet Patricia

As a music education major, Patricia has been with Got Strings for 3 years now! Growing up, her parents thought she would follow in the footsteps of her star baseball players, but Patricia had her sights set on playing the violin in her school’s orchestra. So, her dad cut her a deal: learn to play the “Devil Went Down to Georgia” (great choice, dad!) and he would buy her a violin.

Flash forward some years, Patricia did live up to her dad’s request, but she shortly switched to cello and has stuck to it ever since!

Fun fact: When not playing the cello, Patricia can probably be found sippin’ some orange juice and finding new places to hang up her hammock.

Meet David

Another one of Got String’s returning musicians is David, a music industry major. With this major, he writes his own music, produces it and donates proceeds back to charitable causes. David found the spark within music thanks to his dad, who taught him how to play a little guitar. In 10 years, David has his eyes set on being a music producer. However, he doesn’t want to focus on making beats, but rather making musicians’ dreams come true.

Fun fact: David will forever be petitioning to bring back Ben & Jerry’s One Love flavor. It was a limited batch, but fingers crossed!

Meet Mary

Mary’s journey with music started with viola in the 5th grade, which led to her eventually taking private lessons throughout high school. With an innate love for music, and both playing and writing songs, Got Strings felt like a perfect fit for Mary to continue her passion at JMU. In 10 years, Mary hopes to teach music internationally.

Fun fact: Mary’s sidekick is a little furry friend named Ellie, a cat that has a strict taste pallet for strictly barbecue chips and chicken.

Meet Lauren

Lauren’s journey with Got Strings was sparked when she overheard our client coordinator, Greg Childress, talking about the ensemble before a violin studio class and the rest is history! As a music education major, Lauren’s dream job is to become the last chair second violin of the National Symphony Orchestra.

Fun fact: Guilty pleasure include: strictly binge watching Stranger Things.

Meet Emily

As a senior studying music industry, Emily sought after Got Strings as a means to get more experience playing gigs and she’s been killin’ it ever since! Although her dream job changes on a whim, the world is her oyster come graduation!

Fun fact: Emily’s bucket list is topped with the goal to travel to every U.S. state!

While these are just a few of the faces of our 2020 roster, we’ve got a whole lotta love for our little Got Strings family! We know how much your wedding day means to you, which is why our musicians are comprised of some of the most respectful, lively and talented people we know!

Stay tuned for more updates about life here at Got Strings, and what goes into bringing the magic into your special moments.

Cheers, friends!
